My first day at work. . .
Jul. 16th, 2007 12:30 pmUPS, the ultimate test of physical endurance, stamina and strength is now my choice of work preference. I like it there. I worked for FedEx Ground for four years, and it's nice to take a break from the desk. The downside, every muscle in my lower body aches. My upper body strength is good, but the rest of me protests in pain. I feel like I have bricks in my shoes with each step I take. Ouch.
I also have another job, and it's only on a needed basis and that's running tech support at the local Rent A Center. I was shocked to find, well not really, that there are so many people out there that rent computers, but have no idea how to operate them, set them up or delete their cookies. Most of the computers that I have had to "clean up" were just operator errors.
One computer I had to "fix" had so much junk in their start-up folder that it booted up worse than my 286 I had over ten years ago. OY!! I hit my head on the desk from the shear stupidity of it. After I calmed myself down, I had to show the person how to identify the difference between a virus and a fragmented program that pops up at start-up. I'm still having troubles understanding why people buy them when they can't use them properly. They think that just because it's a powerful machine, that it's not prone to messy things. Well, I have seen so much mess in the data aspect of the job that I have seen numbers and codes in my sleep.
Aside from that, I have been visited by my muses and now they won't shut up. Gotta go quiet them down before I loose my mind.
