Highway driving....
Apr. 16th, 2013 12:42 pmNot only is the city built like a wagon wheel and it looks like that on a map, it's even worse when people don't know what stop lights are for. If it wasn't for traffic, they would run them. Seriously.
Okay, here's what happened. I get in my car and first thing as I'm backing up to enter the road, some moron comes screaming around the corner and nearly takes off with my rear bumper. Thankfully, that didn't happen and he completely missed. I live just three houses from the Vance Jackson corner and it's hell on asphalt.
I can't stop there. No, see I have to take my husband into work and so I have to keep going. So I back up and this other idiot comes around the corner and honks at me. What? It's a residential street and I'm supposed to pull back in because you rounded the corner after I get out of the drive? Yeah no, not happening. On I go. This guy is on my bumper tailgating me to go faster. Not happening. If he wants to go fast, he can go around but instead I go the speed limit and he's honking at me the entire three blocks to get to the next main street.
I come to a stop and he's still honking at me! By now, people are coming out of their houses to see what's going on and this guy is making all kinds of noise. There's no way I'm going into traffic without looking both ways. Okay. Moving along. I get into traffic and this same honker is following me up until I get to the access road to the highway. He continues going straight but not without burning some rubber in the process.
Now, I'm on the highway and everything is going fine up until I come up on this other guy in a minivan that's going 40 mph. The speed limit is 65. That's an accident waiting to happen. I manage to find an opening to get around this guy and then I discover that he had his emergency lights on. Now, why on earth would you not check to see if your other lights are working first? The front ones were working but not the back. It made me shake my head but it's no biggie. Anyway, the highway was uneventful other than the minivan so now it's time to get off the highway toward the downtown area.
Downtown San Antonio isn't a fun place to be. Let me tell you, these people think they're in New York. I've never been there myself but my parents have and I'm taking their examples of what they have been through and compared it to this situation. There's honking, weird habits and a lot of unnecessary yelling. To top it off, there's a police station right at the corner of Caesar Chavez road and Santa Maria.
Okay, I get passed that nightmare and right as I was making my turn a short block later to Dorango, there's people parked along S. Laredo right in front of the GEO facility where my husband works. It's no big deal really since people park there all the time and there are meters so it's not like it's illegal. Getting through it while people are backing up is a different matter. No one watches what's going on and it's like the rear view mirrors are nothing more than an accessory to some of these drivers. I almost get hit by a constable because of this.
Now, I have arrived at my destination and it's an obstacle course or reversing and turning. Every outlet is practically blocked. Thankfully I drive a little car so it wasn't that tough but man some of this was really unnecessary. Okay, so now I'm leaving the facility and heading back home. Oddly, nothing happens.
Really though, it's not all that bad now that I have written it out. I think it's because Terror Tuesday has been coined by me because I've seen this happen a lot on Tuesdays.
Ah, I should explain a few things. I have my days named as follows:
Manic Monday
Terror Tuesday
Wacky Wednesday
Terrible Thursday
Frightful Friday
Stinky Saturday
Slumpy Sunday
This is only in reference to the driving conditions in San Antonio. Sundays, nothing really happens but this pattern does happen a lot with drivers here. Since there are a lot of parties that happen around SA, the air stinks sometimes. Saturday can also be known as Sloppy Saturday for the disorganized parking during yard sales. Believe me, that happens a lot here too. At least every block has about three or four happening at the same time.
I've always wondered....
Jun. 24th, 2011 01:10 pmI'll give a re-cap what's been going on. In January, Pete's W-2 was returned to the corporate office because the post office decided that we didn't live here anymore. We fought this battle before and it's because the postal worker thought the house was abandoned because there was no car. Duh, the running air-conditioner and the cats in the window are a dead giveaway along with the radio noise...but I just think that the carrier was being lazy. I pay all my bills online so paper bills don't come to us like normal people. I guess that's what I get for living a hermetic lifestyle.
In February, we bought a car and Pete can't drive a stick. So the taxi service falls onto me again. I'm not complaining because let's face it, being without a car sucks. Everything works in this car including the AC so for $1800 dollars on a high mileage car with a lot of life still in her it's nothing to sneeze at. And it's pretty too! It's nice and silver and clean. XD She has her little quirks and we call her Butterfly Bullet. There's a story behind the name.
March has been interesting. Not only did we get a heatwave here, we also had a pretty interesting time dealing my landlady's attitude. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my neighbors were blaming me for a lot of things that they were doing wrong and put me in a situation since 1) I keep to myself and 2) It's easy to point fingers at someone that doesn't know what's going on to lay the blame on. What we were being blamed for...high water bills. Now Yolanda knows for a fact now that we're not the cause of it since we took care of all of our leaks but that's not the real problem. You see, in the lease it said specifically no washers. Dryers we can have since we take care of the electric bill but the water is taken care of by the landlady Yolanda.
April was fine but slow. I've been sick most of that month from my poor diet which I had changed recently.
May, Pete's pay got screwed up and we were behind on some of our bills. That was...HELL. I had my vehicle registration coming up and I didn't have the money to pay for it until the beginning of June. We got it all straightened out now. THANK GOD!
June, just before I had to get the vehicle inspected, I had a sticking throttle. Not cool. Not only was it eating a lot of gas, it was revving very high and that's dangerous on the road in a stick shift. I was astute enough to adjust my driving to keep myself out of an accident but that was interesting. We managed to get it inspected in that condition but the situation had to be corrected quickly. Once we figured out why it was sticking, it was smooth after it was corrected which cost me a whole $12. I replaced the PCV valve, added some fuel system cleaner and used WD-40 on the throttle body. Easy fix.
I also discovered that a lot of jobs don't use paper applications anymore and those that do are privately owned companies or mom and pop stores. Any big companies are using online applications. Yikes! I put in one for Aaron's, Big Lots, Family Dollar, Auto Zone, Hartford, and Best Buy. My guess that I won't be called for any of them since I'm not bilingual. Maybe Auto Zone only because of the demographic that I'm female, white and in school. Big corporations like that prefer that you know someone and I happen to know the manager and three of the sales reps there so that's going to help. Plus it's close to home and I don't have the excuse to use that my car broke down. It's walking distance. It's literally down the block from where I live. It's a five minute walk and less than a minute drive.
We're planning on getting a second car for Pete so he has something to drive to and from work but for the time being, we're getting a bus pass for him just in case my hours don't allow me to pick him up from work. If I'm lucky, I'll get the day shift which means that I won't be away from home too long.
Anyway, for something fun, I took this online IQ test and scored a 115. For a few people that know me, the last time I did this test I scored a 109 which is slightly above average. According to the scale from this test, it placed me in the Superior percentile. It's below genius and this means that I'm smarter than 1 out of 6 people I meet. Well, that's not so bad. It's interesting to say the least but it's not a completely accurate score either since there are many forms of intelligence that this quick online test didn't cover and most of these tests are supposed to be given by a psychologist that accounts for age, sex, and location. Yes, this test did ask for those but it's still not accurate anyway. So that could mean that I'm dumber than what this online thing gave me.
Anyway, that's been my year in review.
Busy work....
Jul. 27th, 2009 11:16 amOn the upswing though, we're getting a car. Pete has a co-worker that's looking for someone to take over the payments for her Impala because the car is too big for her. She has 1 year left to pay on it. We already went with her to the dealership and the paperwork will be transferred the moment we give them the first payment. It's the best that we can get at this time. Everything works on this car and I'm so excited! It's a 2003 and it's the same color as my old Sable....beige. What is it with cars and beige? We end up with beige cars. Oh well....it's a car. ^___^
Oh and for the record, I'm not playing taxi.
Oh which reminds me, we got another RPer for my KKMcomm. Man is he wacky! He doesn't have a personal journal up, but he does have an external website. He's pretty interesting and very in character from what I have read and from what another player has mentioned. Oh and Pearl gave me an award for my creativity. ^___^ It's in my profile so go check it out when you get the chance. It's very pretty.
My new RP...

I did it again.
Feb. 26th, 2009 07:28 pmThe community is still in it's raw stages and I am taking requests to join here as well as in the community forum which is located [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] for those of you that want to look at the community and the rules that I have up so far. I claim to play Wolfram von Bielefeld. That's right. I'm playing only one character. He's very different from the other characters that I have played in the past and I happen to love the "Little Lord Brat".
For the time being, the plot is going to be very random meaning that there is no set plot at this time and it may not have one for a while. There is also a potential for the comm to become mixed anime. Mostly it's going to be pretty chaotic and the potential for fun is abounds. I'm also open to suggestions if anyone has any. ^__^

Una isn't a dictator by any means and it's pissing me off that not one person is looking at what she had to do compared to what she had done. If Baku-chan and Skunky want to come back, then all they have to do is write their character sheets. Every other player has done it and it's a benefit to the other players so that way there is no confusion about what a character can and can not do. It prevents the Luke Skywalker affect. No one is that perfect. Every player has voted on this and agreed to it.
As for their character journals are concerned, I'll talk to Una about it. I agree with what Lightrobber and MOG said. I don't think it's right to have the journals taken unless the player is absolutely sure that they are not going to play the character again in any other role play community. I say that it's at the player's discretion.

Your dominant hues are red and blue. You're confident and like showing people new ideas. You play well with others and can be very influential if you want to be. Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right. Your outlook on life can be bright or dark, depending on the situation. You are flexible and see things objectively. |

A little advertising...
Aug. 18th, 2008 01:58 pmNormally, I don't like to advertise on my journals or anything of the such, but that is what I have designed my AOL journal for in case there are some newbies there are looking to do more than chat in the rooms. It may look plain and slightly unappealing, but the information provided in it should be more than enough for fans that are looking to do a little more.
I plan on doing this for my Fandoms website. It's slightly exhausting for me to keep up since I have to keep up with so many sites.
On a personal level, I made some headway in my life. I broke the barrier that contained my deepest fears. I didn't like what I saw, but it was necessary for me to continue. I thought that I had a fear of rejection, but in actuality, I have a fear of abandonment. It seems that I can handle rejection better than being left behind or forgotten. I want to be remembered as a person that created memorable videos and heartwarming fanfics. My real life isn't that pretty, but in my mind and in my imagination, I want to live a life where people can accept others for who they are and not for superficial reasons.
I love this test!!
Jul. 25th, 2008 09:08 pmYour result for The Techie Test...
The Techie
91% Geek!
Well, you did it. You have ascended to that highest level. You don't just use technology, you don't just have a basic knowledge of how it works... you bend it to your very will. You don't use technology... you control it.
You have a questioning nature, and you love to know what makes things tick. This is the mark of the true tech-head. It's no good simply being able to make use of someone elses creation, unless you can make it yourself. You've probably made at least your own website, and possible your own web server. You build your own computers, and own at least 2. You know the word "mod" means more than just Counterstrike. Heck, there's a chance that you've never PLAYED Counterstrike... such things are beneath you.
A new frontier has been building the last few decades, and you're riding the crest of the wave. But to stay on top like this takes a focussed mind... too focused, often. You risk losing track of what's really real, of people and feelings. You're probably here because you feel something is missing. And one thing you can never program... is love.

Anime Expo 2008
Jul. 7th, 2008 03:43 pmOh being Otaku for 4 days was a blast. I'm going to do it again when I visit the Japanese gardens here. Breezy loves her new outfit and she's taking really good care of it as any 11 year old would. I'm actually surprised that she's going through lengths to make sure that there isn't any stains on it. She got upset when her bow had a few little spots and insisted on washing it herself.
I was thinking about going again next year and this time, we're driving. The AX 2009 Expo will be held in LA again and I would really like to return. One of the main reasons for this is I want to improve on my costumes and I have an incintive to return. Actually I have 3. One is to see my friends again, two is because I really enjoy having my picture taken and three is because everyone is as weird as I am and I feel at home. ^__^ I''l post pictures once I get back to my computer. ^__^
Doing digital art. . .
Jun. 8th, 2008 01:19 am![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

These are the ones to my characters. I have done a total of 28 of these banners. Now my next project is wallpapers for each of the characters for their respective players. There are a total of 30 in all. Each one takes about 20 minutes to make depending on the details. Each banner took about 15 to 30 minutes to make since the sizing was a lot more involved. The larger the picture is blown up, the more detail that's revealed and the more involved the touch ups become.
I'm working on a series of digital fanarts that require a great deal of attention. I have been meaning to do this for some time now. Since I was moderator, the attention was highly divided and I never had the time to complete these projects. I still have a commercial to produce and three videos to complete.
Getting lost in cyberspace. . .
Mar. 27th, 2008 10:14 pmAnyway, that's it for me. Bonzo is leaving for a while. I'm getting lost in the internet traffic. See ya when I find my bearings.
